I had the pleasure of photographing Tim Whitney, a local writer for the book jacket of his novel , "Thanksgiving at the Inn". He was fascinating to talk to; I imagine his book will be a good read.
I asked Tim what the book was about and here's his reply.
The book is a young adult novel titled 'Thanksgiving at the Inn'. It is centered around a 12 year old boy whose grandfather has just passed away. At the reading of the will there is a great deal of anticipation around the 'inheritance' being the answer to all of the struggles between father and son, however it is not the case. The entire inheritance seemingly hinges on father and son running the deceased grandfather's Inn, which was the house the father grew up in. This includes catering to an eclectic cast of characters which share life lessons in what I hope is an entertaining manner.
Many relationship issues are addressed that hopefully kids will relate to... divorce, death, financial struggles, etc. Through a series of ups and downs the father and son grow further apart and then draw closer and closer together as they realize that what is important in life isn't money and fame so much as family... at the end of the day, it is all we can count on. And of course it all wraps up on Thanksgiving... at the Inn )
