Again, when you first look at a photo, your eye goes to the lighest color in the photograph OR the area of the most contrast .........and you SURE don't want the focus to be your pants (unless you're trying to sell pants). You want the viewer to see YOU.......you know, your face.
Look at the difference in this photograph compared to the first portrait. In this photograph, you see the subject, not his pants!
Lighter colored pants with a dark top will tend to make your bottom half look bigger than your top half. It doesn't matter if you're a girl or a guy, you want your top half to look bigger than your bottom half. Remember, light colors come forward, dark colors recede.
